“the inspiration for this scent was born from a short-lived romance, all remotely conducted. i had found myself having some fun by using a few dating apps and setting my gps coordinates to various locations all over the world. i was enjoying traveling by proxy during a time when i was encountering some wanderlust. it was from this whimsical tech-journeying that i met dan botog, a romanian painter. dan has blue, sunken eyes, a baby-face, and well-groomed hair. from speaking with dan for a little bit, i discovered how sensitive he was. he enjoyed talking about light, the mountains, the new yorker, good espresso, his favorite painters, and his dreams. at some point in the conversation, i asked if he had a nickname and he said yes! his friends call him danut, which in romanian translates to doughnut. i thought it was the cutest nickname i’d ever heard and so i entered his name on my phone as danut. we continued to chat and for a little while, we would facetime every tuesday. we would share meals together, look at creative works together, and talk about the state of the world. it was a very sweet practice of ours and i always enjoyed my tuesdays with danut. this scent seeks to capture the feelings i had during this time. i felt as if i were exploring a mystery, connecting with someone halfway around the world. my heartfelt light and buoyant and i felt as if caught in a poem during our conversations. this scent embraces a slow and warm unfolding of sensations but never loses its mystery. it never quite comes down to earth but floats forever in the potential that has been unrealized”

“the hungarian pianist and composer franz liszt, born in 1811, avidly transposed earlier masterpieces, a common romantic pastime, and liszt especially admired francesco petrarch. in his love letters to countess marie d'agoult, liszt quoted petrarch’s love poems for laura, il canzoniere, in which petrarch amplified the human struggle between body and spirit, romantic love transcending into a higher form of love. tuesdays with danut is an elegant lied, played on a piano smelling of exotic woods, reminding me of liszt’s set of three solo piano works, three petrarchan sonnets. the timeless stories behind these artistic creations evince how creative minds cannot exist without embracing the memory of love, the reminder of mortality.”
